I am a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Sheffield. I started playing cello at the age of 4 and songwriting at the age of 13, when I taught myself to play guitar. My music is influenced by my classical experience and the post-industrial landscape of Sheffield. I’ve released a number of folk-influenced songs under my own name and I’m currently working on a new project – Vera Sacrvm – an electronic meditation on youth culture , femininity, sexuality, love and conflict in the digital age. My songs have featured numerous times on BBC Introducing in Sheffield and the BBC Upload Show.

Session Work

I am a classically trained cellist, having studied for six years at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, I can bring the beautiful sound of the cello to your project through multi-tracked string arrangements. I have experience across many genres, from dance to metal, and am capable of crafting elegant, unique string parts. I have also provided vocals for a number of equally diverse projects this year and I’m always looking to collaborate with likeminded musicians.

Alongside songwriting I like to compose music for a variety of different moods. I specialise in ambient, cinematic music and sound design for video games but have a broader interest in composing music for moving picture. Please contact me if you have a project requiring an original soundtrack.

“Emily recorded Cello parts for my upcoming solo album project with a mix of folk, pop and ambient arrangements. Her ability to understand and communicate musical language to musicians with both classical and alternative backgrounds, has helped the project greatly. Capable of learning pre-written parts quickly and has a natural ability in creating beautiful chord progressions, melodies and harmonies during sessions. Reliable, friendly and easy to work with, any recording project will be benefited from her session work!”
